UK Snowsports Coaching Conference 2009
The new look UK Snowsports Coaching was a fantastic success with positive feedback from all the delegates that attended. The 2 day event is a change from previous years where it has been held at a conference centre. The move to an indoor slope has changed the focus of the whole weekend dramatically and seemed to be extremely popular as it was a complete sell out. The conference was hosted by the Snow Centre which is a fantastic new facility based in Hemel Hempstead.
The keynote speaker, Catherine Quittet gave a very insightful talk looking back over her successful alpine career and all the coaches she has had and her views on what made a good coach. I would like to say a big thank you to Catherine and to Arnie Eskasall for inviting Catherine over.
We also had a presentation from Amanda Scriven Purcell who is our Coaching Systems Manager from Sport Coach UK and she presented information on the coaching frame work and UKCC which Snowsport England will be doing working on over the coming years. I would like to thank all the other presenters for their time and effort in delivering their sessions which all went down very successfully.
The 2nd day was the chance to get on the slope and show off some moves. With a variety of different options to choose from. Freestyle, Telemark, Race training, personal performance, steering and outcome standards. I think everyone had an enjoyable time and learnt something from the weekend to take back to their clubs.
We are in the process of starting to plan next years conference and any feedback or ideas for next year would be welcome.
An article on the Awards dinner will follow shortly. Catherine Quittent presentation info below |
